Liposuction: Laser Lipo with Tumescent SmartLipo | Lynchburg, VA

Liposuction is the most popular way to reduce stubborn fat that resists diet and exercise. However, many people who want to get rid of fat are intimidated by traditional liposuction because it requires general anesthesia (being put under) and lengthy recovery times. Fortunately, technological breakthroughs, specifically, the tumescent smart lipo (laser lipo) technique, have revolutionized the liposuction procedure. It combines two major advancements in cosmetic surgery, intended to improve liposuction results, make the procedure safer and less invasive, avoid the use of general anesthesia, and speed up recovery. With tumescent laser lipo patients can safely and effectively reduce belly fat, love handles, double chins and fat deposits found on the chest (for breast reduction in men,) thighs, back, arms, knees, neck, hips, and buttock.

Best of all, this less invasive form of liposuction requires little downtime, and most patients recover within a few days. Bruising is minimal, results look natural, and the reduction in fat lasts! LASER LIPOSUCTION BEFORE AND AFTER*

Laser liposuction before and after pictures reveal dramatic reductions in fat, impressive body contouring, and improvement in skin laxity and texture. While results may vary, the people in these Laser Lipo before and after pictures are real patients, experiencing real reductions in fat following their treatment.*

HOW DOES TUMESCENT LASER LIPO WORK?

Liposuction is a fat reduction treatment that suctions fat cells out of the body using a device called a cannula. The cannula is inserted into the skin using a small incision. Once fat cells are removed from the body, they cannot grow back. This results in a long-term, visible reduction of fat.

Minimally invasive liposuction from Wyndhurst Medical Aesthetics combines two advancements in cosmetic technology to improve liposuction results, eliminate the need for general anesthesia (being put to sleep during the procedure,) and speed up recovery.

The Tumescent technique

The Tumescent technique allows Dr. Petry to remove unwanted fat without the need of general anesthesia. Prior to your laser lipo treatment, Dr. Petry will inject a saline solution known as a tumescent into the targeted fat. The tumescent includes a local anesthetic (numbing solution,) epinephrine, which causes fat cells to swell up (making them easier to remove,) and a vasoconstrictor, which constricts blood vessels (to minimize blood loss.) This combination distinguishes the tumescent technique as the safest method of liposuction with virtually no serious complications.¹

Because the tumescent allows the patient to remain awake during the treatment, Dr. Petry can get a better feel for the patient’s muscle tone, allowing him to remove more fat and skillfully contour the treatment area.

Laser Lipo – Laser assisted liposuction

In conjunction with the tumescent technique, liposuction from Wyndhurst Medical Aesthetics utilizes advanced laser technology, known as SmartLipo or laser lipo. With traditional liposuction, the surgeon physical manipulates the fat (stabbing the fat with a sharpened cannula to break up the fat cells.) While effective at removing fat, this technique was more traumatic on the body. It caused extensive bruising and swelling and required a lengthy recovery time, usually 6 weeks.

In contrast, laser lipo uses thermal energy from a cosmetic laser to heat up and liquefy the fat cells, prior to suction. This allows Dr. Petry to easily remove the softened fat cells using a much smaller cannula, with a much smaller incision. This minimally invasive technique for breaking up the targeted fat minimizes liposuction side effects and decreases recovery time to a few days.

In addition to significantly minimizing the impact of liposuction on the body, the laser’s energy simultaneously heats the skin tissue, triggering the production of collagen. This offers the additional benefit of firmer, tighter, smoother skin in the treatment area.
